Why does the unit show 236volts when my Multimeter shows 240-245volts which is nearer the advertised voltage supplied by the electric company?
Answer: There is a misunderstanding about UK voltages in a home and the required tolerances. The voltage can vary depending on factors such as distance from the sub-station transformer and electricity demand. The UK mains electricity is delivered at 230 Volts, within a tolerance of +10% / -6%, which is within the range 253 Volts to 216.2 Volts. -

Does this tell you if the socket is earthed/grounded?
Answer: Yes, it tells you if the Earth / Ground is Open, Live and Ground reversed or Live /Ground Reversed, missing ground. It also tests the Circuit Breakers (RCD) for the sockets. -

How do I know if my socket is properly connected to the Earth?
Answer: The device can show if the socket is wired correctly, including the reversal of neutral or live or a short circuit. However, it cannot tell you if the earth is not connected. -
